Taken from a funny forward I got today:
I've learned that the people you care most
about in life are taken from you too soon
and all the less important ones just never go away

And I'm telling you
Cuz I've been there too,
that storms are like rainbows too
They fade away,
fade away,
fade away, away,
stormy days,
drift away,
and may someone be holding you now.

So last weekend was Saira's wedding. I can't believe she's actually married! It was a 3 day event with the Mendhi on the Friday (fire alarms were NOT my fault!), Saturday was the ceremony at the mosque (Saira squinting to read 7pt font), and Sunday being the dinner reception. It was a tiring weekend, and each event got better as the days went on. Friday had a few mishaps, Saturday was delayed a bit, but Sunday seemed to go off pretty well. We'll have to have a more indepth conversation with Saira when she gets back from her honeymoon in Greece! Funny to see 400+ people run to the dessert table. I got Mendhi on my ankle..wonder how long it'll stay on...(That's not permanent? Thank GOD!) Pics to be posted later...
I've been at my company's Users' Conference for the beginning of the week. It was at the King Edward downtown Toronto. I had to be there for 7am to help with registrations, so I stayed at my granny's cuz her place is oh-so-convenient to everything! It was a pretty nice hotel, and I got to see Atom Egoyan. They were filming a movie at the hotel on the Sunday. Apparently Colin Firth and Kevin Bacon were also there, but I didn't see either of them (unlike my lucky coworkers!)
At night for the past few days, I was studying for a quiz (which I wrote last night). I'm taking a Marketing course at Ryerson....distance couse, so everything is done over the Internet. I even met Yun at Robart's library on Tuesday to study. Oh I always pictured myself studying in that library...awfully dark and gloomy in there. Anyway, I ended up getting 22/25 on my quiz. Yay me! Reading DOES work!
I'm feeling a bit rundown, so hopefully I can catch up on sleep this weekend. Plus, haven't gone to the gym in over a wk...feeling unhealthy!

Hmm so apparently now my old site is working, Ah what to do...get a more reliable web host and maybe install movable type? Oh so much work...but I don't know how I feel about paying to blog. (Paying ? What's that all about?)

Went to do some outlet shopping in Cookstown today. I bought a Samsonite suitcase...it's only a 24" though. Hmm hope that's big enough. It's expandable so should be OK. The 26" one just seemed a bit too big, and I didn't want to be totally impractical.
I tried really hard to find a pair of shoes at the Nine West store. The shoes were pretty cheap, but I couldn't find anything that I really fell in love with.
it's just the state I'm in I can't be good to anyone else like this-Sarah Mclachlan "Wait"
Wonder if that meant anything or if I'm just reading into things too much again.

Hmm I haven't been able to update my old site using blogger for the past 2 days now. So I tried to contact my web hosting company...right..the link appears to be dead. Boo...I guess that's what you get for free.
So here I am, testing out typepad since the features seem pretty good, and I don't feel like coding stuff from scratch.
Well we'll see how this goes. Karen's been using it for awhile, and I have a 30 day trial period before they start charging me.

These past few days, I've been having X-Files Season 1 marathon viewings. It's addictive even though they often scare the crap out of me.
This wkend was nice weather apart from the really cool breeze. I've been eating unhealthy though so getting fat. Oh how the small comments really make me sad.

Ughh...was at work till past 6 today. Well, good thing I wasn't the only one there. My team keeps me laughing.
I finished reading "The Alchemist" which was pretty good. One of those books that on the surface is a simple story, but has much deeper meaning. Nice short read.
I'm moving on to read "Olive's Ocean" which is actually a kid's novel. I was searching for award winning books, and this is one of them. I was searching for another book called "The Giver" by Lois Lowry, but it had already been checked out. Yes, I went to the library. I've spent way too much money this year on books. I've got a lot of bills coming up so trying to budget.
I start my Marketing 101 course (by distance) at Ryerson this week. Too bad I've been too busy to actually get my textbook. Ugh..Tomorrow I will go get it. Whohoo Fri night at school. Sigh.
When life get stressed out, how to make things seem normal? Dive into work. I know how to manage that kind of stress.

Lookie, there's a short snippet about Cybermation's dragon boat team in the Toronto Star!

Wow what an awesome wkend. It was Great White North Dragon Boat Challenge held over two days at Ontario Place. The weather was absolutely perfect for it too. Sunny and warm (but not too hot). On Saturday, heats took place to find out what division each team would be placed into on Sunday. We didn't do as well as I would have liked, on Saturday. We got placed in division K, which is a division lower than what the team was in last year. But this year, there were a lot more teams (faster too). It's amazing to see how many paddlers there are though. The dragon boat teams took over the park with all of their team tents, chairs, signs and towels. Anyway, we had two races on Saturday which totally wiped me out. Isn't it amazing how a sprint of just over 2 minutes can tire you out?
Sunday was a better day cuz we made it into K division finals after our first race. Then we just barely beat out another team to take the K finals! So exciting to win our division. I think our team did really well for our level. Can't wait to do this again next year.
Love the Fox man! And our beavertails yumyum.
This weekend was Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation's weekend to end breast cancer. While the dragon boat races were unfolding, there was also a 60km walk to end breast cancer and part of the walk was along the waterfront. While we were paddling out to start our race, I saw 2 young girls standing infront of the walkers, holding up a bristol board which said: "You are our heroes". There was also a special race where the participants were all breast cancer survivors. Very inspiring and emotional.
Thank you to everyone who helped support me. I raised over a thousand in donations!
